“Gunnin’ Birds” by Kroghie Andresen: Earns National Award
Matthews, NC – December 8, 2009: The Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals recently announced that Kroghie Andresen’s book, Gunnin’ Birds, earned a Platinum MarCom Award in the Book Production category at the 2009 Marketing Communications competition. There were more than 5,000 entries from across the United States and around the world, with approximately 15% of the entries earning Platinum Awards.
Designed by Matthews - based graphic design firm SPARK Publications, the 380-page, hardcover, full-color volume features the personal collection of Kroghie Andresen, a retired Wachovia Bank executive. Andresen amassed more than 1,100 decoys and 30 years of stories from duck hunters and decoy collectors along the North Carolina coastal region. A number of his decoys are currently on display at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh in an exhibit called Art Ducko: Waterfowl Culture in North Carolina.
Gunnin’ Birds is an extensive, detailed book that captures the passion of its author. The historic photographs and colorful stories in the book will appeal to anyone who loves the sport of duck hunting and the pursuit of prized decoys.“One of the best aspects of working on a project like this is to be able to transform the client’s vision into a well-designed and marketable book,” says Fabi Preslar, SPARK Publications president and creative director, “and then watch it succeed.”
